Camping is all about community and if you are new to RVing, like most renters are, connecting with others that share the same interests and gathering around the campfire to hear other campers stories and experiences can be a great way to learn more about Rving and have others around for support. There are many groups throughout the United States that make meeting others even easier, here are a list of our favorites:
Girl Camper
Women unite! The girl camper movement encourages women of all skill level to get out and camp. There are several chapters by state where there is an online community and scheduled meetups throughout the season. You can learn more here. If you are a solo woman camper, this can be a great place to meet your tribe! The website and podcast is filled with inspiring stories and motivating content that will make you want to plan your next adventure.
Escapees RV Club
The Escapees RV Club is a support network for all RV’ers. They welcome all types of RV’ers and offer education and community through their club. An annual membership costs $49.95 but it is a small price to pay for the value that you get with the membership. In addition to local meetups and events you also get a bi-monthly magazine, partner discounts and an online university to teach you everything you need to know about RVing. Interested? Check out their website here.
Grand Design RV
If you have interest in RV ownership, you can attend local rallies to connect with other owners and to learn more about a specific RV brand. For instance, with Grand Design rallies, they often have Grand Deisgn RV techs on hand to complete repairs or warranty work and new rigs on site to tour. You can also tour other owners’ RV’s and find out the best way to organize or mod your camper to make it unique to you and your family. You can see the 2021 schedule here.
Not a Grand Design owner? No problem, most manufacturers have local chapters and rallies that you can attend check your Manufacturers website for more information.
Vintage Camper Trailers
Do you dream of owning a vintage camper or just love admiring others? Check out the local vintage trailers groups and rallies. Events can include tours, restoration workshops, and more. Although most get togethers are on the West coast, you will find some held on the East coast throughout the year.
RV Village
Rv Village is a unique app that you can use to find other campers that have checked in at your campground or surrounding areas. It is a great way to meet new people. You are able to search for members by criteria such as pet owners, families, RV experience level, etc. so you can find like minded people to camp with. You can also use the app to find upcoming get togethers and rallies. This free app also offers discounts and offers a directory to local businesses.
We still love the traditional way of meeting people by gathering around the campfire or joining in a game of kickball in the field but using technology to connect can be a great way to expand your circle. What is your favorite way to meet new people when you camp? We would love to hear your favorite groups in the comments.
