Do you have plans to visit the most magical place on earth? If so, skip the expensive hotels for the Disney Fort Wilderness campground. This magical campground and RV resort will allow you all of the park benefits of Disney resort hotels, close proximity to the parks, and amazing outdoor amenities like pools, playgrounds, & more!
Sites
The sites at Fort Wilderness rival those of a state park, with large wooded sites with the bonus of concrete pads. Make sure to pack chalk for the little ones to keep busy being little artists at your site.
If you don’t plan on renting a golf cart, we highly recommend spending a little bit extra to get a Premium Meadow site as those are the closest to the pool and Meadow Trading Post. You will easily be able to walk to all of the amenities in that area for a fun-filled week or weekend at the Fort.
Take time to walk or ride your golf cart through the loops to see amazing decorations. Especially beautiful, if you are visiting during Halloween or Christmas holiday season. The kids also found prizes that other guests hid in the campground, so keep your eyes out for special surprises when you are walking around. You can stay up to date on the best sites and happening in the park and stay connected with other guests through the following Facebook Groups:

Amenities
In Disney fashion, this park has many amazing amenities. Their pool area includes a large pool with a waterslide and a splash pad area for the littles. Throughout the day they have Disney-themed trivia for the family and pool party games for the kids where they can get a prize for participating. This is a great way for parents to sit back and relax poolside while the kids are entertained with the games.
Next to the pool is the Snack Bar and Recreation area where you can play pool and ping pong while waiting for your order. This snack shop includes delicious pulled pork sandwiches and fun Mickey Mouse ice cream bars. Pro Tip: Purchase a souvenir cup to enjoy free soft drink refills during your entire stay throughout all Disney parks and resorts.
Throughout the campground are three large playgrounds which offer swings, slides, and climbing structures. In addition, each loop features a small recreation area with tetherball and basketball hoop, balls can be rented at the boathouse.
Activities
There are both free and paid activities throughout the RV Resort. Although we didn’t get to enjoy them all during our stay we did get to see the fireworks show that is set off nightly at the Magic Kingdom, you can get a decent view in the pool area. We also enjoyed the electric light parade. Our kids preferred to spend some extra time in the pool at night rather than partake in the outdoor movie or sing-a-long but I have heard great things about them both!

Visiting the Parks
Fort Wilderness includes so many onsite amenities that it is not even necessary to visit one of Disney’s theme parks. However, if you do decide to make your way to the parks there are bus stops in between every loop that will provide free shuttle service to and from the parks. There is also a ferry to Magic Kingdom that is accessible from the Settlement area of the campground. This is also where the restaurants and food trucks are located.
I highly recommend adding Disney Fort Wilderness to your agenda for your upcoming vacation. It truly is one of the best RV resorts I have visited. I was impressed by the cleanliness and little details that are throughout the park. If you are traveling to Florida, you can rent an RV to see the magic of Disney Fort Wilderness for yourself. Just make sure you book early as sites book fast. Our local branch can deliver and set up a camper at your site. All you have to do is show up and enjoy! Check availability of our RV Rentals here.
